This course dives deep into the necessity of trauma informed care for the practice of Chinese and East Asian medicine today. We break down the principles of SAMHSA’s Trauma Informed Care, and help you reimagine your practice to artfully provide this kind of care. Learn the neurobiology of trauma, and why understanding the treatment of intergenerational and racialized trauma will make you a more effective practitioner. From treating Complex Trauma to applied Polyvagal theory. From helping clients cultivate interoception to building relationships with cultural humility. This course provides an overview of the Acupuncturists Without Borders trauma informed care certificate program and grounds practitioners in practical ways to support communities who have experienced trauma. Guest instructors, Dr. Tenisha Dandridge and Alaine Duncan join AWB staff to bring their specialized trauma expertise to this module.
